Buchanan Partners LLC (“Buchanan”) is a leading full service real estate development firm operating in the Washington, D.C. region. Since 1998, Buchanan has made over $1.2 Billion in total investments, with over $300 million in equity capital invested with multiple investment partners including pension funds, endowments, and family offices. With a portfolio spanning a broad range of building types, Buchanan is able to move with the market, whether the environment favors residential, office, industrial, or raw land investments. The firm, led by partners Brian Benninghoff, Bob Buchanan, and Steve Hubert has developed over 5,000,000 square feet of commercial space.

Buchanan has entitled and developed property on over 2,000 acres of land in Maryland, Virginia, and the District of Columbia. The firm has over 4,000 multi-family and single family residential units in its development pipeline, and current projects underway include the BerkleyNet Center at Innovation Park, Prince William County, Glenmont Metro Center in Glenmont, Maryland, The Landing at Cannon Branch in Manassas, Virginia and Michigan & Irving in Washington, DC.

Buchanan Partners’ predecessor, Buchanan Companies (1978-1998), pioneered developments in the then-emerging markets of Herndon, Ballston, western Alexandria and eastern Loudoun County in Virginia and Frederick County, Maryland. Following in these footsteps, Buchanan Partners has spearheaded commercial and residential development in today’s emerging markets, including southern Loudoun County and western Prince William County in Virginia, and Bowie in Maryland. In these markets, Buchanan has introduced and fostered innovative new generations of commercial buildings such as the LEED Gold Bowie Corporate Center and commercial condominiums, in both flex/industrial and Class A office product types. Buchanan Partners has development experience throughout the Washington Metropolitan Region and is currently active in nine jurisdictions. Buchanan Partners maintains both a strong regional perspective and local community involvement, in addition to the specific project focus that is necessary for a successful real estate development project. This involvement with the region and the community, in addition to the project, has distinguished Buchanan Partners from many of its peers.

Our in-house land planning expertise and longstanding relationships with local government agencies have allowed us to successfully navigate the planning and approvals process in over 15 jurisdictions across the Washington D.C. metropolitan region. Along the way, we have become immersed in the communities where our projects take place, even after exiting financially.

Asset Management

Buchanan is vertically integrated: we have assembled a talented team of property management, engineering, and maintenance professionals and combined it with the latest in building technology to provide best-in-class operational performance. Our internal construction management department works with tenants to craft build out solutions catered to their budget and schedule. We couple this hands-on approach with excellent capital markets relationships to realize the full value potential in every asset.
